What is Released Time Christian Edcation?

Released Time Christian Education (RTCE) are off-campus Bible Classes held during school hours which are not school sponsored. The local school board votes to allow children to be “released” from class for religious instruction with parental permission. This is permitted by California Education Code 46014 and states that the student can attend RT without being counted absent. Besides using vans, Classes can also be held in nearby churches or homes.
