Join the Adventure

The 2012 Daniel Institute begins June 24th and ends August 3. It will be forty days of focused spiritual discipline and leadership development. This time will help us gain the tools necessary to transform dreams into reality.
Paul and I decided to take part in this powerful training experience together. The two sponsoring organizations (Christian Educators and Tentmakers) have extended an invitation to us which includes a $5,000 scholarship.
$7, 000 must be raised for Paul and I to attend, which covers tution, room and board, books, and travel expenses. We are asking God for this amount by June 18th and trusting Him to work out all the details in this short period of time. Our decision to go is the result of faith put to action, therefore we are expectant of what God will do. This training will be a stretching time for us and we will need your prayers!
Please ask the Lord if you should be involved in our Spring Giving Project. The first person we shared with responded with a gift of $200! Will you join the team?

The Dream Takes Shape

God’s work in my life through the Daniel Weekends has clarified the dream which God put in my heart over ten years ago. Many of you are aware that my calling is to reach children with the gospel. An answer to the question of how this could be accomplished, is now slowly coming into focus.
The task of winning the souls of America’s children is immense (God-sized). I believe the public school is not only the greatest mission field, but the wisest strategy for reaching the un-churched. I also realize, however, that I cannot do it alone. Multiplying my ministry through discipling others is non-negotiable.
During each Daniel Weekend, the participants are challenged to attend a 40 Day Daniel Institute Training which takes place each summer in northern Minnesota. Leadership development is a primary focus of this Training which includes lessons on discipling others. The Lord has been showing me that He is using this training to raise up the next generation of Christian Educator’s leadership.

Paul and I took a weekend away recently to seek God. During that time, the Lord showed both of us how He could use this training as future ministry preparation for us, both individually and as a couple.

Extending His Light

More than sixty walkers from ten different RT programs came together to make California Released Time (CaRT) Christian Education’s Walk for the School Children successful! $5, 171 was raised to support CaRT in providing Bible classes for public school children.
We enjoyed beautiful weather and fun activities for children during the Walk. There were bounce-houses, popcorn and snow cones, crafts and even a real clown available to paint faces.
We assembled at the starting line to thank God for how He is using Released Time to reach more families with the gospel. James Na, Chino Valley School Board Member, commended all who gathered. He reminded us we must be steadfast in our commitment to Biblical values. Especially with regard to the new laws in California that are being passed, we must continue to extend His light in public schools.
We appreciate the many who shared this vision with their friends and community leaders and praise the Lord for those who volunteer to bring Bible classes to public school children each week.

Faith-Rewarded

March 2012 Daniel Weekend Participants

Our March Daniel Weekend this year was powerful. Twenty more teachers were equipped, empowered and encouraged to live for Christ with new vitality on their campus. Many of the those who attended were already involved in ministry at their school sites, either through a Bible Club or an organized a prayer group.
The various grade-level table groups came up with specific transformational goals. Some concluded that prayer needed to be their central focus. Others made plans to teach students compassion or demonstrate more faith by setting higher goals for themselves. One group concluded that a formal event was necessary to call teachers to renew their vows to God, making a formal commitment, to teach with a higher standard of excellence.
Forty-five days later, these teachers reported that staff and students were being prayed for systematically and the Renewal of Vows event has been scheduled for Saturday morning, September 22nd in Paramount.
In several cases God gave divine appointments in route to accomplish their plan. One teacher was able to explain the significance of Passover and Easter at the request of her students. Another had the opportunity to share concepts of Intelligent Design during science class.
The most memorable report was from Nora, a Daniel alumni, whose principal requested a staff prayer group be started after discovering one of her staff members had been diagnosed with cancer. Nora said that more than half the school staff showed up, held hands and prayed together out loud! Since then they continue to meet weekly for prayer and Nora has been approached outside the group with prayer requests as well. God has been rewarding the faith of those who seek to honor Him.

Clown Character Pics

Clown characters we met at the COAI Convention.

A dutch clown, cowgirl clown and mi favorita--the "Taco Bell" Clown!

These pictures were so cute, I just couldn't resist posting them too.

Clowns of America International (COAI) Convention

In April, Paul and I attended the Clowns of America International (COAI) Convention which took place this year at Disneyland, just a few miles from where we live. I attended workshops on characterization and improvisation techniques. Paul practiced juggling, and went to face painting lectures. We both learned so much about clowning as an art form. As you can see from the pictures, we met some pretty cute characters, as well.

Paul-A Clown?

Top Three Clown Names:
Boots, Jawbone, Mr. Orange

Which is your favorite?

The highlight of the COAI Convention for Nancy was Paul “trying on” a clown face for the first time. Could Starburst be getting a partner? We are experimenting with possibilities for performing together the future. I think we would make a pretty good team! If so, Paul could draw on his theater experiences in college and continue to add to his skills. I have learned a lot from him already about rehearsal techniques. We will have to wait and see what God does but, it is exciting to dream about.
